Ain Defla Bride’s Plea Mobilizes National Support

An orphaned young woman from Ain Defla province, located 138 kilometers west of Algiers, recently shared a video online ahead of her upcoming wedding. In her appeal, she noted her limited resources and requested only two chickens to celebrate her marriage. This video quickly gained significant traction across social media platforms, drawing widespread attention to her situation.

The young woman's plea rapidly prompted a nationwide response, inspiring a wave of support from Algerians. Individuals from neighboring regions and even distant provinces traveled to her village, contributing various forms of assistance. This included financial aid, in-kind donations, and even jewelry for her to wear during her wedding celebration. Additionally, some benefactors offered a monthly allowance to support the newlywed couple, enabling them to live with dignity.

In an immediate display of collective joy and solidarity, attendees gathered in the village on Monday and Tuesday night, hosting an impromptu celebration for the couple, whose wedding is scheduled for the coming Friday. This outpouring of support underscored the deep sense of community and mutual assistance prevalent among Algerians, echoing a similar previous instance where national solidarity also materialized for an orphaned young man in Merouana, Batna province, leading to a second, widely attended wedding celebration for him.
