Blida Industrial Zone Readies Refrigeration Gas Facility by 2027

Camelia Abdel Nasser, a chemistry student from Blida 1 University, has developed an innovative project focusing on packaging industrial gases for various refrigeration devices. This initiative seeks to address a societal need by ensuring the availability of these materials and reducing the country's dependence on imported packaged gases. The project reflects a broader national objective to transform university research into practical, implementable ventures that meet market demands.

The project, which secured funding even before Abdel Nasser's thesis defense, received full approval and is currently in the process of completing commercial registration. Research conducted by Abdel Nasser revealed a complete absence of this industrial activity domestically, as packaged gases for refrigeration devices are currently sourced from abroad. The student initially conceived a partial solution involving importing gas for local packaging, targeting its use in both household and industrial refrigeration systems.

The facility for this venture is slated to be established in the Ain Romana area within the Blida industrial zone. Expected to commence its market entry in early 2027, the project is poised to contribute significant economic value and create employment opportunities. Following the satisfaction of local market demands, there are aspirations to expand operations into neighboring countries and explore export markets, transforming the university concept into a competitive economic entity.
