Brahim Djelouadji Urges Diaspora as Key Tourism Partner

Brahim Djelouadji, a tourism expert, proposes shifting beyond traditional promotional methods to establish the Algerian community abroad as a full-fledged partner in the development of 'Destination Algeria' tourism. This strategic engagement aims to revive Algeria's tourism sector, allowing it to reclaim the market position it held during the 1970s and 1980s. Djelouadji suggests that the current approach, largely confined to conventional campaigns and physical exhibitions, needs to evolve.
According to Djelouadji, the approximately seven million Algerians residing abroad represent a significant, yet under-utilized, asset. He posits that these individuals, with their families, relatives, and friends, could become primary clients for Algerian tourism. The expert advocates for a collaborative vision, uniting the administration, local stakeholders, industry professionals, skilled individuals, business people, and tourism enterprises established internationally. In this endeavor, digital platforms, social networks, and modern communication methods are deemed essential, alongside an improved presence at international fairs, particularly in France, for consistent promotion and understanding visitor expectations.
Djelouadji emphasizes that the potential for tourism development, including necessary infrastructure and skilled personnel, already exists within Algeria. His assessment underscores the need for enhanced coordination of these resources to ensure 'Destination Algeria' establishes a durable presence in the international market.
