National and International Bids Sought for 200 MW Wind Farms

Sonelgaz Énergies Renouvelables launched a national and international call for tenders on September 30, 2026, aimed at constructing new wind farms across Algeria. This initiative seeks to develop a total capacity of 200 megawatts, divided into two distinct 100-megawatt lots, representing a concrete advancement in the nation's renewable energy objectives.
The proposed wind energy projects are slated for specific locations: one lot in Tilghemt, situated within the wilaya of Laghouat, and the other in Djelfa, within the wilaya of Djelfa. The comprehensive scope of the tender covers a broad range of activities, including initial studies, equipment procurement, civil works, assembly, training, testing, and commissioning, along with the crucial connection to the national transmission grid. Technical and financial bids are required to be submitted concurrently by November 25, 2026, at 10:00 local time, with a public opening of these bids scheduled for the same day at the contracting authority's headquarters in Gué de Constantine, Algiers.
Qualification conditions for prospective bidders accommodate both standalone foreign entities or foreign consortia, as well as joint consortia comprising Algerian and foreign companies. Foreign-only bids or those from foreign consortia must provide three references for projects of at least 80 megawatts each, with two of these located outside their home country. Consortia combining Algerian and foreign firms are required to demonstrate two foreign references of at least 80 megawatts capacity, completed internationally. This inclusive framework notably facilitates opportunities for local participation in Algeria's growing renewable energy sector.
