National Office of Hajj and Omra Begins 2027 Preparations

The National Office of Hajj and Omra (ONHO) has initiated early preparations for the Hajj 2027 season, aligning with new organizational procedures announced by Saudi authorities and requirements outlined in the "preliminary arrangements document." Mohamed Lamine Bounemra, Director of Information Systems for the Hajj Directorate at ONHO, confirmed that an Algerian preparatory delegation has concluded its work in Saudi Arabia, where it identified and contracted various services aimed at ensuring the comfort of pilgrims. This proactive approach reflects a strategy to redesign services around the pilgrim, moving away from fragmented offerings to a more integrated, pilgrim-centric model.
Central to these preparations is the design of a "comprehensive package" of essential services tailored to the needs of pilgrims. This package encompasses a range of critical provisions, including services for the holy sites in Mina and Arafat, accommodation in Mecca and Medina, and comprehensive logistical support for food, sustenance, and transportation both from Algeria and within Saudi Arabia. The goal of this integrated service offering is to enhance the overall experience for Algerian pilgrims, ensuring their comfort and facilitating the optimal performance of their Hajj rituals.
ONHO has leveraged significant knowledge and experience gained from previous Hajj seasons, enabling the Algerian mission to manage preparation and organization stages more effectively. Substantial progress has been made in finalizing contractual procedures for the comprehensive service package as part of this early preparation. Furthermore, the ONHO has implemented a long-standing strategy for a seamless digital transformation of the Hajj process, from initial registrations and lotteries to subsequent administrative and organizational steps. This digital framework includes a national Hajj system integrating various sectors—such as Interior, Transport, Health, Tourism, travel agencies, Foreign Affairs, Air Algérie, and the Bank of Algeria—through a shared database accessible via the unified "Algerian Hajj Portal." Electronic payment for Hajj costs began on October 1st and continues until October 29th, allowing pilgrims to avoid visiting Bank of Algeria branches. The Office also prioritizes necessary preventive health measures to safeguard pilgrims, ensuring their well-being throughout their journey and safe return.
