Oslo Summit Hosts Algeria as Distinguished Guest

The 15th Scandinavian-African Economic Summit concluded in Oslo, Norway, with Algeria participating as a distinguished special guest of honor. The Algerian delegation, led by Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries Sid Ali Khaldi, on behalf of the President, emphasized the importance of broadening economic cooperation and strengthening partnerships centered on investment and technology transfer. This international event provided a significant opportunity to enhance economic dialogue between African nations and Northern European countries.

Algeria utilized this platform to highlight its extensive potential across various sectors, underscoring the nation's current economic dynamism. The country expressed its aspiration to establish authentic partnerships that involve investment in resource transformation, the transfer of expertise and technology, and professional training, alongside fostering reciprocal trade in products. A key focus was the national drive to diversify the economy and boost exports beyond the hydrocarbon sector.

During the summit, Algeria reaffirmed its commitment to reinforcing African integration through major structural projects, including the Trans-Saharan Road, the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline, and the Fiber Optic Project. These initiatives are designed to bolster regional connectivity and unlock broader prospects for economic cooperation among African countries and their international partners. Furthermore, the event featured "Algeria Day," co-chaired by Minister Khaldi and Norway's Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy, Marianne Sivertsen Næss, where trust in Algeria and mutual resolve for enhanced cooperation were highlighted, inviting Norwegian investors to explore opportunities facilitated by improved business climate reforms.

Significant engagements during "Algeria Day" included the participation of the Sonelgaz group, which showcased Algeria's capabilities as an "energy and industrial hub for the future" and explored partnership opportunities with Norwegian companies through bilateral meetings. Concurrently, the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Oslo Chamber of Commerce, aiming to foster collaboration, exchange expertise, and encourage mutual business visits to establish new joint ventures. These efforts collectively aim to solidify Algeria's position as a destination for partnership and investment, aligning with the aspiration for Africa's economic sovereignty.
