Tebboune Doctrine Aims for Production, Food Security by 2027

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has unveiled a comprehensive economic doctrine, defining a clear national vision for the country's economic future. This strategy emphasizes bolstering national production, achieving economic sovereignty, and ensuring robust food security. The President has designated 2027 as a pivotal year for the culmination of this transformative path, aiming to establish a new economic model firmly rooted in practice and awareness among all stakeholders. This approach represents a fundamental shift from an economy historically reliant on imports and hydrocarbons towards a diversified, productive system.
The core tenets of this economic doctrine include a commitment to expanding national production to meet the majority of the country's needs, which were previously fulfilled through substantial imports. Key objectives involve enabling economic actors to penetrate various production sectors, coupled with safeguarding national products and meticulously regulating import mechanisms to differentiate legitimate operators from brokers. Furthermore, the vision extends to achieving greater agricultural self-sufficiency, particularly in grains, by 2027, as an integral part of enhancing national food security. Simplified procedures and the digitization of the investment process are also central to fostering a more competitive and resilient economy.
Realizing this economic transformation necessitates patience, unwavering belief in the vision's efficacy, and the full engagement of all parties. The executive branch, represented by the government, holds a sensitive and crucial role in executing the final phase of this journey with efficiency, flexibility, and smoothness. This ensures the embodiment of the "participatory" principle stressed by President Tebboune, wherein economic actors actively commit to production, supported by a facilitative government role that guarantees streamlined procedures and dynamic implementation. The ultimate goal is to cultivate a national economy capable of generating wealth beyond hydrocarbons, orienting enterprises towards international markets, and strengthening the global presence of Algerian products.
