US Energy Giants Meet Sonatrach for Expanded Cooperation

Noureddine Daoudi, CEO of Algeria's Sonatrach group, held a series of meetings with senior officials from major US energy companies during a working visit to the United States from October 12 to 16, 2026. The objective of these engagements was to strengthen bilateral cooperation and explore new opportunities for partnership and investment within the hydrocarbons sector. Meetings were conducted with representatives from ExxonMobil, Halliburton, and Devon Energy, three prominent entities in the American energy industry.

Discussions during the visit focused on expanding cooperation in the exploration, development, and production of oil and gas activities. A significant area of conversation involved leveraging advanced technologies applicable to the energy industry, particularly digitalization, artificial intelligence, and technological solutions aimed at optimizing industrial operations, enhancing process efficiency, and increasing productive capacities. The Sonatrach delegation also visited facilities of one of the companies, reviewing developed technologies.

Furthermore, the meetings examined mechanisms to reinforce the transfer of knowledge and technology, promote experience exchange, and develop the skills of Algerian professionals, which are considered crucial for modernizing the national hydrocarbons sector. Identifying new investment opportunities and establishing potential strategic partnerships to broaden collaboration between Sonatrach and US companies formed another key focus. These initiatives align with Sonatrach's strategy to diversify its international alliances, attract new investments, and bolster its technological and operational capabilities, while also aiming to consolidate its position as a leading energy actor on the African continent and strengthen Algeria's presence in international energy markets.
