45 Algerian Researchers Among World’s Top 2% by Stanford-Elsevier

Forty-five Algerian researchers have been included in the prestigious Stanford-Elsevier ranking for 2026, which identifies the top 2% most influential scientists worldwide. This recognition, based on the scientific impact of their research careers, marks an increase from 38 researchers in the previous edition. Notably, four of these Algerian academics are positioned among the ten most influential researchers in the Maghreb region.
Beyond career-long influence, the "annual scientific impact list" also saw a significant rise in Algerian representation. One hundred and one Algerian researchers were featured in this category, an increase from 80 in the preceding classification. Among them, five researchers are recognized within the top ten in the Maghreb.
Kamel Baddari, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, extended his congratulations to the university and research community on this distinguished scientific achievement. He highlighted that this progress underscores the scientific competencies within Algerian universities and their capacity to contribute to knowledge production and expand the horizons of innovation.
The Minister affirmed his commitment to further solidify the Algerian university's standing in the international scientific arena. He emphasized efforts to enhance its research influence and leverage knowledge as a catalyst for national development and shaping the future.
