Higher Education Funds 937 Innovative Projects

Algeria's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the selection of 937 innovative projects for funding following the final deliberation of the second edition of the "Protomekret2" national challenge. From 2110 projects submitted via the national platform, the chosen initiatives will receive a total of 1,188,400,000 Algerian Dinars, with an average funding of approximately 1.27 million Dinars per project. This significant investment underscores a commitment to fostering scientific research and practical innovation among young talents.

The selected projects are distributed across the nation, with 333 initiatives in the East, 317 in the Center, and 287 in the West, reflecting broad participation and a growing dynamism in innovation and entrepreneurship within national higher education institutions. Technologically, the accepted projects span eight main fields. Digital applications and platforms lead with 314 projects, followed by AI-based applications and platforms (171 projects), electronic equipment and devices (146 projects), and connected solutions alongside the Internet of Things (136 projects). Other areas include biological and food products, materials and chemistry, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and health products, as well as services and training, showcasing the diverse innovative fields and wide scope of technological solutions developed by university competencies.

Further supporting this drive, 98 university institutions, out of 117 targeted university incubators, are benefiting from these results. This highlights the substantial investment directed towards backing innovative projects and enhancing their capacity to transition from concept to practical realization. University incubators play a pivotal role as strategic spaces for nurturing innovative initiatives, guiding project owners, elevating technological maturity, and developing prototypes that address economic and social demands. This dynamic reflects the Algerian university's dedication to embedding a culture of initiative and innovation, strengthening the connection between education, scientific research, and national development requirements. Ultimately, these efforts aim to build a knowledge and technology-based national economy, establishing the university as a primary contributor to wealth creation, the establishment of startups, and sustainable national development.
