Algeria – Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro arrived in Algeria on Thursday evening for a technical stopover on his return from China, where he had conducted a state visit.

Maduro was greeted at Algiers International Airport by Prime Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane, with whom he held bilateral talks.

This is Maduro’s second visit to Algeria in the past year. In June 2022, he met with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to discuss bilateral relations.

The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Algeria and Venezuela in the areas of energy, trade, and investment. They also expressed their support for each other’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

Maduro’s visit to Algeria is a sign of the close ties between the two countries. Algeria is a major oil and gas producer, while Venezuela is the world’s largest producer of crude oil. The two countries have a shared interest in working together to stabilize global energy markets.
