Government Transitions to Implementation for 2026-2027 Social Year

The Algerian government has transitioned into the implementation phase for the upcoming 2026-2027 social, school, and university year, marking a shift from planning to direct field execution. This comprehensive approach reflects a clear government effort to finalize all related dossiers impacting citizens' lives before the start of September. Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb recently convened a meeting with governors, alongside the Ministers of Interior, Education, and Internal Trade, to underscore this strategic direction.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Ghrieb issued practical instructions to the governors, mandating their personal and meticulous supervision over several critical areas. These directives cover the provision of supplies to ensure market stability and the availability of essential goods at reasonable prices, the readiness of educational and university infrastructure, and the assurance of efficient school and university transport. Additionally, the focus includes the availability of books and school supplies, as well as dedicated care for children with special needs.

The government is managing the social year as an interconnected package of files, moving beyond merely an academic schedule to ensure a tranquil social climate. This involves actively closing other pending issues from the summer season, such as finalizing compensation files for those affected by forest fires, a process chaired by Interior Minister Said Sayoud. Efforts also extend to reinforcing neighborhood security through combating gangs, aligning with presidential directives to strengthen the fight against this phenomenon and protect public spaces, especially for youth and children, thereby contributing to overall social stability.
