Youth Ministry Expands Free Diaspora Camps to France, Tunisia

Algeria has broadened its comprehensive program of free summer camps for children of the Algerian diaspora residing abroad. This initiative, coordinated by the Ministry of Youth with Algerian consulates in various countries, aims to strengthen communication links between diaspora children aged 6 to 14 and their motherland. The program seeks to reinforce their attachment to Algeria and allow them to discover its rich civilizational, cultural, and historical heritage through diverse cultural visits, leisure activities, and social encounters, an approach that has been met with considerable success.

The program has seen multiple groups already complete their stays, with others arriving for the third and final session of the summer. Notably, the scope of these camps now extends beyond Saudi Arabia, encompassing children from France and Tunisia. In France, the program is organized in partnership with the Grand Mosque of Paris, facilitating participation from young Algerians residing there. A delegation of 26 Algerian youth and children from Saudi Arabia recently arrived in Algiers, while another group of 36 young participants from Tunisia was anticipated.

These camps provide a structured environment for young Algerians to engage with their country of origin. The activities are designed to immerse them in Algerian culture and history, fostering a deeper sense of belonging and national identity. The consistent positive feedback underscores the effectiveness of this governmental policy in nurturing the bond between the diaspora and their ancestral home.
