Digital System Begins Managing Saïda Water Remotely

The Minister of Water, Lounas Bouzegza, recently inaugurated a new remote control technology for drinking water service management in Saïda. This initiative forms part of a broader push by the sector to integrate digitalization and modern technologies, with the Minister emphasizing the urgent necessity of digital transformation in managing potable water services remotely. The launch in Saïda serves as a practical advancement in the ongoing process of digitizing water service management across the country.

The newly introduced technology is designed to significantly improve the monitoring of water facilities and reservoirs, enabling remote control over various equipment. It also facilitates the prompt detection of irregularities and allows for rapid intervention. Minister Bouzegza highlighted that this digital system will provide precise and real-time data control related to water networks and infrastructure, particularly concerning leaks, technical malfunctions, and the tracking of reservoir levels and distribution operations. This capability is expected to streamline decision-making and accelerate on-site interventions.

Furthermore, the adoption of this remote control system signifies a strategic shift from reactive management, which addresses faults after they occur, to a proactive approach. This new method will rely on monitoring indicators and analyzing data, allowing for interventions before minor issues escalate and thus ensuring the continuous provision of public water services. The gradual implementation of this technology across water distribution networks nationwide is anticipated to enhance service efficiency, particularly in the effective distribution of drinking water, aligning with the sector's long-term national strategic plan focused on securing water supply for over 50 years.
