Italy, Algeria Deepen Cooperation in Agricultural Digitization

An Italian business mission, focused on opportunities within Algeria's agricultural market, recently concluded in Algiers. The mission brought together 13 Italian companies with approximately 90 Algerian business operators to specifically explore the mechanization and digitalization of agriculture. This initiative was organized by the ICE office in Algiers, in collaboration with FederUnacoma, the Italian Federation of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers, and supported by the Italian diplomatic mission in Algeria.
During the event, Italian Ambassador Alessandra Schiavo emphasized the critical role of agriculture in Algeria's development priorities and its strategy for food sovereignty. She highlighted that Italian expertise and technologies could significantly contribute to this sector, identifying areas such as agricultural mechanization, digitalization, smart irrigation, livestock technologies, and storage and preservation solutions. The Ambassador noted that the participation of numerous Italian companies underscored their genuine interest in the Algerian market and their commitment to support the modernization of the country's agricultural sector, a sentiment mirrored by the strong interest from Algerian operators.
Beyond fostering immediate commercial relationships, the mission aims to establish long-term industrial partnerships, facilitate the exchange of know-how, and promote collaborations that generate added value within Algeria. Ambassador Schiavo also pointed to the "numerous areas of complementarity" between Italy and Algeria, with the goal of transforming these into a robust engine of cooperation. This approach aligns with Algeria's development priorities and seeks to offer new partnership opportunities for both countries, including B2B sessions held to explore these prospects in the Algerian agricultural sector.
