Finance Minister Lebbou Promotes Algerian Investment at AIIB Meeting
Algerian Finance Minister Mohamed Lamine Lebbou participated in the 11th annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Doha, Qatar, from September 28 to 29, 2026. Representing Algeria as its governor to the institution, Minister Lebbou joined discussions centered on "Infrastructure for Tomorrow: Impact and Innovation" and engaged in key dialogues concerning the bank's operational and institutional matters.
During his interventions, Minister Lebbou underscored the Algerian economy's resilience and the stability of its macroeconomic framework. He pointed to the dynamic growth observed in recent years and the significant progress made in enhancing the business climate and strengthening the investment regulatory framework. This positive portrayal aimed to highlight Algeria's robust economic fundamentals to international financial stakeholders.
Minister Lebbou also emphasized the substantial opportunities and potential Algeria offers for investments, particularly within strategic and structural projects. He articulated how these investments are crucial for the diversification of the national economy, the development of new economic sectors, and the reinforcement of national productive capacities. On the sidelines, he held high-level bilateral discussions with the President of the AIIB and the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation, capacity building, and knowledge transfer with these multilateral development institutions, alongside talks with Qatari and Saudi counterparts.
