Youth Minister Highlights Algerian Youth Empowerment to African Envoy

Mustafa Hidaoui, Algeria's Minister of Youth and the official responsible for the Supreme Youth Council, recently met with Ms. Hasnaa Tamam, the Ambassador of the African Union of Youth and Peace for North Africa. The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation and introducing Algeria's comprehensive experience in empowering young people and integrating them into national development pathways and decision-making. A core component of this approach is the Supreme Youth Council itself, which functions as an advisory body and institutional framework designed to enable youth to contribute to public policy enrichment and articulate their concerns and aspirations.
During the meeting, Ambassador Tamam received a detailed presentation outlining the Council's missions, organizational structures, and its various initiatives, programs, and activities. These efforts are focused on supporting young individuals, developing their capacities, enhancing their engagement in public life, and safeguarding them from various threats. Ambassador Tamam specifically commended Algeria's significant strides in youth empowerment, particularly the adoption of the National Youth Strategy. She had previously lauded this strategy during the opening of the Fifth Continental Dialogue on Youth, Peace, and Security, held in Burundi last August, describing it as a leading advancement in implementing the youth, peace, and security agenda across the region.
The officials also explored avenues for solidifying continental cooperation and facilitating the exchange of expertise among institutions and bodies dedicated to youth issues. This collaborative approach aims to bolster the contributions of young people to conflict prevention, promote a culture of dialogue, embed values of coexistence and solidarity, and ultimately support peace, stability, and sustainable development throughout the African continent.
