Global Innovation Index Places Algeria Third in Education

Algeria has secured a significant global position, ranking third in the Education Index component of the 2026 Global Innovation Index. This notable achievement places the nation among the top performers out of 139 countries evaluated worldwide. The Education Index serves as a crucial indicator of a country's progress and investment in its educational infrastructure and human capital development.
Further highlighting its commitment to education, Algeria attained a second-place global ranking in two specific sub-indicators within the Education Index. The country was recognized for its high level of spending on education and its substantial government funding allocated per secondary student. These metrics reflect a strong national emphasis on supporting the learning environment and ensuring resources for students.
Mohamed Saghir Saadaoui, the Minister of National Education, characterized these rankings as a "distinguished achievement." Speaking during a national conference held via videoconference with education directors and sector officials, the Minister expressed profound appreciation. He reiterated the national education sector's gratitude for the consistent support and attention it receives from the country's high authorities, led by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
