President Tebboune Outlines Vision for 70 Million Algerians

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced that Algeria's population has reached approximately 47 million, with the nation experiencing an annual increase of nearly one million people. This significant demographic expansion, highlighted by the President during his regular meeting with national press representatives, underscores the critical need for comprehensive long-term planning across all sectors.

President Tebboune emphasized that the country's demographic evolution necessitates forward-thinking strategies, stating that advanced nations design development horizons with clear strategic frameworks. He affirmed the government's current focus on preparing for a future Algeria with a projected 70 million inhabitants, a substantial increase from the 9 million population recorded post-independence. This proactive approach ensures that growth is met with adequate infrastructure and services.

The President stressed that population growth is a crucial factor in crafting development plans, infrastructure projects, and social services, extending beyond immediate needs to encompass distant horizons. He articulated a philosophy of generational responsibility, referencing that "those before us planted for us to eat, and we too shall plant for those who come after us to eat," signifying a commitment to securing the needs and well-being of future Algerian generations.
