Canadian Ambassador Reviews Sétif Livestock Feed Partnership

The Canadian Ambassador to Algeria, Robyn Wetzelhofer, recently visited the province of Sétif to examine an Algerian-Canadian investment initiative in livestock feed production. During her visit, Ambassador Wetzelhofer toured the "Sivap" company, a specialist in this field. Sivap was established as a joint venture between the Algerian company "Sibaco" and the Canadian firm "Prodigran," showcasing a model of economic cooperation between institutions from both nations.
This partnership is particularly significant for the development of Algeria's livestock breeding sector and its related food industries. The availability of livestock feed is a fundamental factor influencing the stability of animal production and enhancing herd productivity, directly linking to the meat, milk, and various animal product industries. Consequently, the local development of the feed industry is not an isolated activity but an integral component of a wider production chain, extending from raw material inputs to consumer-ready food products.
The Sivap experience underscores the potential benefits arising from direct investment and joint projects between Algerian and Canadian enterprises, moving beyond traditional trade relations. Such collaborations foster the exchange of expertise and experience, leveraging the capabilities of each partner to advance industrial and agricultural development. As Algeria aims to bolster local production and expand its agricultural sector industries, these partnerships with foreign entities serve as a crucial mechanism for attracting investments, sharing knowledge, and enhancing industrial capacities through practical and sustainable ventures.
