Police Operation Halts Algiers Car Theft Gang

Algiers provincial security services have successfully dismantled a criminal association specializing in vehicle theft through the deliberate destruction of private property. This operation, part of ongoing efforts to combat various forms of crime, was carried out by the major crimes combating brigade of the third judicial police district in Abi Ayar.
The investigation began after authorities utilized specific information regarding the activities of individuals who would target victims frequenting banking institutions. These individuals reportedly monitored victims after they withdrew or deposited funds, subsequently destroying their vehicles to seize money and other valuable property left inside. Precise technical data was instrumental in identifying the perpetrators.
Following the identification, warrants for jurisdiction extension and house searches were executed, leading to the arrest of two individuals, including the primary suspect. The operation also resulted in the recovery of three remote control devices used to jam vehicle signals, three tourist vehicles, and 409 capsules of pregabalin psychotropic substances. After completing the necessary legal procedures, the suspects were presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Cheraga Court.
