Mostaganem Hosts Championship as Algerian Athletes Claim 56 Medals

Algerian national weightlifters have demonstrated exceptional performance at the ongoing African and Arab Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship in Mostaganem, surpassing the 50-medal mark to reach a total of 56. The championship, which commenced on October 5 and runs until October 13, has showcased the talent of Algerian youth across various weight categories.
The impressive tally of 56 medals includes 15 gold, 10 silver, and 31 bronze. A substantial portion of this achievement came on the third day of competition, when Algerian athletes secured an additional 22 medals. These recent additions comprised 6 gold, 3 silver, and 13 bronze medals, further solidifying Algeria's leading position in the event.
This current standing builds on an initial strong showing, with Algerian participants having accumulated 34 medals, including 9 gold, 7 silver, and 18 bronze, after the first two days of the championship. The event itself features 350 weightlifters from 31 different countries, with Algeria participating with 26 athletes in the African Championship and 20 in the Arab Championship, underscoring its commitment to regional sports excellence.
