European Markets Open to Algerian Agricultural Exports via New Agreements

Algerian economic operators have signed eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and one export contract following their participation in the International Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition "Fruit Attraction." The event, held in Madrid, Spain, from October 6 to 8, saw ten Algerian companies active in agricultural and food products under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion. The outcomes included agreements for exporting agricultural products to European markets and a specific contract for plastic packaging to Germany.

The eight MoUs aim to establish new trade partnerships and broaden the prospects for Algerian products in foreign markets, particularly across Europe. The separate export contract, valued at nearly $3 million, involves shipping plastic packaging products to the German market. This particular agreement indicates a growing external demand for Algerian industrial goods that are integral to agricultural and food value chains.

Algeria's participation in this specialized international exhibition served as a platform to promote national products and highlight the production and export capabilities of Algerian enterprises. It also facilitated direct connections between these businesses and international markets and distribution networks, especially within Europe. Parallel to the main agreements, a series of initial commercial contacts and meetings took place, with ongoing efforts expected to lead to further trade agreements and contracts in the coming period.

Moreover, the exhibition offered Algerian operators valuable opportunities to observe the latest trends and techniques in agricultural value chains. This included advancements in logistics, storage, cooling, packaging, digital transformation, and smart agriculture. The engagement aligns with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion's policy to intensify the presence of Algerian companies at international economic events, transforming participation into concrete trade opportunities and sustainable export partnerships, in line with directives from the country's high authorities.
