Blida Farm Achieves International Standard Banana Production

An agricultural operation in Mouzaia, within Algeria's Blida wilaya, has successfully cultivated bananas, marking a notable diversification in a region primarily recognized for its citrus production. This development highlights innovative agricultural practices within the country, bringing banana production to an area not typically associated with the fruit.

The Halifi Ali n° 06 farm, managed by Ahmed Baraka, has achieved banana cultivation that adheres to international standards. This achievement recently drew the attention of officials from the Blida Chamber of Agriculture, including its president, Brahim Belhadef, secretary general, Mohamed Hand, and board member Djebbar Rachid. The president of the rural development association, Benaouda Mohamed, was also present during the visit, underscoring the local interest in this agricultural venture.

Following their assessment, the Blida Chamber of Agriculture lauded the enterprise as a "unique experience" and a "remarkable success" in terms of both quantity and quality. This successful cultivation in a citrus-dominated wilaya demonstrates Algeria's potential for agricultural innovation and diversification, contributing to the nation's food security and economic development initiatives. The initiative showcases how unconventional agricultural pursuits can thrive through adherence to global benchmarks.
