Switzerland Opens Excellence Scholarship Program for Algerians

Algerian researchers and doctoral students have been presented with a significant new opportunity to pursue their academic and research goals in Switzerland. The Swiss Embassy in Algeria recently announced the availability of applications for the prestigious Swiss Confederation Excellence Scholarships. This program is designed to foster international exchange and advanced academic research, extending its offerings to candidates from over 180 countries, including Algeria.

These scholarships, administered by the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (CFBE), are specifically for young foreign researchers and Swiss nationals residing abroad who have completed master's or doctoral studies. Successful applicants can undertake research internships and pursue doctorates at various Swiss universities and specialized higher education institutions. The École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), highlighted by the Swiss Embassy, stands as a prime example of such an institution. EPFL is globally acclaimed for its outstanding teaching and research, holding the 22nd position in the QS World Universities Rankings, and is recognized for its vibrant and diverse scientific community.

To be eligible, candidates must have completed their master's degree, with a maximum age of 35 years. The scholarship provides substantial financial support, offering up to 2,450 Swiss francs per month, which is approximately 2,626 euros. For the academic year 2027/2028, the application window will be open from August 20 to November 13, 2026. All applications must be submitted exclusively online via the official GO ESKAS platform.
