Trans-Saharan Road Completion Targeted by Late 2027

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed Algeria's objective to complete the Trans-Saharan Road project before the end of 2027. This infrastructure initiative is designed to link Algeria with Chad, Niger, and Mali, fostering enhanced regional connectivity.

The President's statement, delivered during his annual address to economic operators, underscores the nation's commitment to advancing crucial infrastructure. The Trans-Saharan Road is expected to play a significant role in facilitating trade and movement across the region, integrating key North African and Sahelian economies.

Beyond the Trans-Saharan Road, President Tebboune also reiterated a commitment to a significant railway expansion. This project aims to connect the southern city of Tamanrasset by rail with major Algerian cities including Oran, Annaba, and Algiers, passing through Laghouat, Ghardaia, El Menia, and Ain Salah. This railway network is targeted for completion before the end of 2028, further enhancing internal logistical capabilities.
