Russia President Praises Algeria as Key Partner

Russian President Vladimir Putin has described Algeria as one of Russia's closest friends and allies, ahead of the third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow. Putin acknowledged the strong relations and reliable partnership between the two nations, stating that Russia has never disappointed Algeria as an economic partner, nor has Algeria disappointed Russia. He emphasized that this collaboration covers numerous areas, extending beyond the agro-food sector.

The Russian President's statements, as reported by Russia Today (RT), underscore the depth and significance of the relationship between Moscow and Algiers. This partnership is noted to have evolved beyond traditional commercial coordination into a robust strategic alliance, capable of withstanding geopolitical shifts. Algeria is positioned as a close ally to Russia in North Africa and the Mediterranean basin, and as a key participant in shaping a new multipolar global order, with relations entering a new phase of cooperation founded on mutual trust in areas such as food security, energy, and regional stability. Earlier, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune had affirmed that Algeria's relations with Russia have remained consistent for over 60 years, based on mutual benefit.

Efforts are also underway to bolster economic and investment cooperation. The Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Omar Rekkache, held discussions with the President of the Algerian-Russian Business Council, Ahmed Azimov, regarding the organization of an "Algeria Day" during the Russia-Africa Summit and its accompanying economic forum. This initiative aims to showcase investment opportunities in Algeria and strengthen economic ties, building upon the conclusions of the 13th session of the Algerian-Russian intergovernmental commission.

Further signifying the strong bond, the International Public Chamber in Moscow recently awarded President Tebboune its highest international honor, the Order of Public Diplomacy. This award recognizes his ongoing efforts to promote peace and dialogue globally, and his role in developing Algeria's international human and economic relations, which has secured its standing with reliable friends and strategic partners.
