President Tebboune Drives Tamanrasset Railway Completion by 2028

The strategic Tamanrasset railway project has commenced field work, bringing widespread relief and optimism to residents in Tamanrasset, the capital of Hoggar. This long-awaited initiative is set to connect the province with other national territories. The start of this development is attributed to the direct commitment of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who consistently monitors the project's progress during cabinet meetings and public addresses, positioning it as a top national priority.
Active workshops are now visible along a 100-kilometer stretch towards Ain Salah province, notably near the western entrance of Tamanrasset by the solar power plant in Oued "Agnar," where foundational work for the railway line has begun. This practical step, which has been met with considerable approval from locals, is seen as a fulfillment of presidential electoral commitments and aligns with the vision for a "New Algeria." Experts, such as Dr. Agari Salem, a political science professor at Tamanrasset University, highlight the railway's immediate positive impacts, including job creation, both permanent and temporary during construction, alongside resolving transportation issues, facilitating the movement of people and goods, and ensuring competitive pricing for commodities.
Beyond immediate benefits, the project holds significant long-term strategic dimensions, promising to revitalize the tourism sector and foster cultural exchange among various provinces, thus serving as a pivotal driver for the region's economic resurgence. Professor Ahmed Bennani of Amine Al-Aqal Hajj Moussa Aq Akhamouk University further praised the presidential pledge to link Tamanrasset to the capital by train by 2028, recognizing its profound effect on showcasing cultural and economic diversity. In a tangible reflection of the project's direct economic impact, the Tamanrasset Employment Agency has announced job opportunities from the Setif Technical Studies Company, the contractor, seeking various specialists including engineers, technicians, and drivers to support the ongoing work.
