Minister Bendouda Opens Djanet International Rock Art Festival

Minister of Culture and Arts Mrs. Malika Bendouda officially inaugurated the inaugural Algeria International Rock Art Festival on 20 October 2026, held in the wilaya of Djanet. The Minister commenced the event by opening a rock art exhibition located at the Djabbaren Museum, setting the stage for a celebration of the nation's artistic and historical patrimony.
During the festival's opening, Mrs. Bendouda also presided over the inauguration of an exhibition featuring works by students from the Higher School of Fine Arts, who had participated in a creative residency program within Djanet. Furthermore, she visited an exhibition dedicated to cultural parks at the headquarters of the Tassili Cultural Park. These engagements were conducted in the presence of local authorities, along with a curated group of specialist experts and artists actively involved in the festival.
These actions align with the Ministry of Culture and Arts' broader commitment to emphasizing the extensive richness of Algeria's cultural heritage. The Ministry aims to elevate Algeria's standing on the international cultural stage and to solidify Djanet's recognition as an exceptional and vital site for human memory and ancient rock art.
