Angem to Launch New E-commerce Platform by 2026

The National Microcredit Management Agency (Angem) is developing "Angem Market," an online sales platform scheduled for launch by the end of 2026. This initiative aims to provide beneficiaries of Angem microcredits with a direct channel to sell their products to consumers. The platform, currently under enrichment, is designed to offer a permanent outlet for artisans, producers, and micro-project holders, extending their reach beyond local clientele. The concept for such a digital tool was previously announced in March 2025 by Angem's Director General, Souad Bendjemil, with the goal of ensuring year-round visibility for products from micro-entrepreneurs.

Angem Market seeks to foster local production and promote it for export. The platform will also support the transmission of artisanal trades to younger generations by integrating online commerce and encouraging professional packaging. Beyond sales, the agency is actively involved in training its cadres in e-commerce, with support from the World Bank and the International Labour Organization for entrepreneurship. This digital venture complements Angem's efforts to expose Algerian products internationally, demonstrated by its participation in events like the Milan fair and exhibitions in Mauritania and Germany, where Algerian products garnered significant interest.

The agency's broader strategy includes supporting micro-entrepreneurs through various financing mechanisms and training programs, with a focus on women, youth, and rural populations. In 2025, Angem funded 22,000 projects, leading to the creation of approximately 23,000 jobs. A significant agreement was signed with Algérie Poste on March 17, 2026, to facilitate micro-entrepreneurs' access to postal services, including current accounts and electronic payment methods, thereby integrating them into the formal economic circuit, even in remote areas. Angem also continues to guide project holders toward artisan chambers and agricultural structures for qualification and provides free, ongoing project monitoring.
