Boufedech: President’s Meeting with Economic Operators Set the Course for Algeria’s New Economic Orientations

The Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (APN), Dr. Khalida Boufedech, affirmed today, Thursday, October 22, 2026, that President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s annual meeting with economic operators marked an important milestone in charting the country’s new economic orientations.
In a speech opening a meeting of the Assembly’s Bureau, Boufedech said the meeting allowed for direct dialogue between public authorities and economic partners. She noted that indicators suggest 2027 will be a pivotal year for the comprehensive transformation of the national economy, particularly with the entry into force of the new national one-stop shop for investment.
She also praised the President’s directives at the latest Council of Ministers meeting on protecting purchasing power, regulating the national market, and ensuring the availability and price stability of essential consumer goods, considering that they reflect attention to citizens’ daily concerns. She also welcomed decisions to push forward strategic projects in the mining and rail transport sectors and to strengthen water security, describing them as development choices that, in her view, would preserve vital resources, make the most of national capacities, and achieve balanced development across the country’s regions.
The Speaker concluded her address by calling for support for the state’s efforts, led by the President, to achieve comprehensive transformation under the New Algeria, and for backing the People’s National Army, heir to the National Liberation Army, and the various security services in defending the homeland and combating crime in all its forms, and in protecting the nation’s resources and its human and natural wealth, which are fundamental pillars of national security.
As for the meeting’s agenda, the Bureau began by reviewing the opinion of the Committee on Legal and Administrative Affairs, Liberties and Human Rights on deputies’ declarations concerning situations incompatible with the parliamentary mandate. It then set the schedule for plenary sessions in the coming period, before examining the oral and written questions submitted to it and forwarding those meeting the legal requirements to the government. The meeting concluded with a review of the draft budget of the People’s National Assembly for 2027.
