Moscow GECF meeting: Energy ministers prepare for 8th Summit

MOSCOW — Climate and environmental regulations must not be used as disguised trade barriers against developing gas producers, Algerian Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab warned on Monday during a GECF ministerial meeting in Moscow.

Speaking at the 28th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) gathering—held to prepare for the group’s upcoming 8th Summit—Arkab stressed that fair access to financing, technology, and global markets remains essential for market stability.

The minister also cautioned against using climate and environmental regulations as disguised trade barriers against developing producing nations, emphasizing that fair access to financing, technology, and global markets remains essential for market stability.

Delegates also reviewed progress on the commitments established under the Algiers Declaration from the previous gathering. Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the forum, the meeting provided an opportunity to analyze market performance reports and long-term supply security strategies.
