Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb Attends 8th Gas Exporting Countries Summit in Moscow

MOSCOW, October 27, 2026 – Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb participated on Tuesday in the opening ceremony of the eighth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), held in Moscow, representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Upon arriving at Moscow’s World Trade Center, the Algerian Prime Minister was welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of the summit. The opening ceremony included an official group photograph featuring heads of delegations and representatives of participating nations.

According to the Algerian Prime Minister’s Office, Algeria‘s participation reflects its commitment to strengthening international cooperation and coordination among natural gas-producing countries amid ongoing geopolitical challenges and changes in global energy markets.

The summit focuses on global gas market development, energy security, infrastructure investment and technological innovation in natural gas production. Discussions also address opportunities to expand gas markets, particularly in Africa and other developing regions.

Algeria previously hosted the seventh GECF Summit in March 2024, which concluded with the adoption of the Algiers Declaration, emphasizing cooperation, market stability and sustainable energy development.

The Moscow gathering provides another opportunity for Algeria to strengthen energy partnerships and contribute to international discussions on the future of natural gas.
