Oran to Host African Skills Policy Forum

Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Nassima Rahhab, confirmed that Algeria's hosting of the African Skills Policy Forum embodies its commitment to enhancing cooperation with African nations. The forum aims to develop partnerships in training and solidify South-South cooperation principles, contributing to the establishment of competencies capable of meeting the continent's development requirements. This event is scheduled to take place in Oran on November 17 and 18, coinciding with the African Skills Olympics, which runs from November 16 to 19.
Minister Rahhab characterized the forum as a vital continental platform designed to highlight the professional and technical talents of young people. It seeks to promote positive competition and facilitate the exchange of experiences among African countries. Operating under the slogan "Shaping the Future of Skills and Empowering Africa's Youth," the forum will bring together ministers, officials, decision-makers, experts, and partners. Its primary objectives include fostering dialogue on the evolution of training systems, anticipating future skill demands, boosting youth employability, and expanding African cooperation in this crucial sector.
A preparatory meeting for the forum, chaired by Minister Rahhab, saw the participation of key figures, including the Advisor to the President of the Republic for Education, Higher Education, Vocational Training, and Culture, as well as the Director-General for Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Representatives from various continental and international bodies and organizations also attended. During this meeting, participants underscored the importance of unifying efforts and bolstering active African participation to ensure that the Oran event serves as a shared opportunity for exchanging expertise, valuing talents, and forging new avenues for continental collaboration in the domain of skills and competencies.
