Air Algérie Restores Direct Flights to Tripoli After 12 Years

Algeria's national carrier, Air Algérie, has reinstated its direct flight service to Tripoli, Libya, effective Wednesday. This development marks the end of a nearly 12-year suspension of direct air links between the two North African nations. The airline is scheduled to operate two flights weekly as part of the resumed service.
The decision to re-establish the route comes after the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) lifted its long-standing restrictions on air travel to the Libyan capital. This crucial step by the international body enabled Air Algérie to proceed with its plans to resume operations, restoring a vital air corridor.
The resumption of direct flights is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between Algeria and Libya. This initiative underscores efforts to strengthen regional transport links and foster closer ties, facilitating both business and personal travel between the two countries.
