Algeria Strongly Condemns Colombia’s Opening of Embassy in Occupied Jerusalem

ALGIERS (DZWatch) — Algeria strongly condemned Colombia’s opening of an embassy in occupied Jerusalem on Wednesday, describing the move as illegitimate and a clear violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the decision as part of repeated attempts to alter Jerusalem’s legal and historical status and impose a new, unlawful reality in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Algeria warned that the move could undermine the internationally endorsed two-state solution, fuel regional tensions and jeopardize efforts to achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

The ministry renewed its call on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfil its legal, moral and historical responsibilities and take urgent action against policies seeking to impose an unlawful reality in the occupied Palestinian territories.
