Algiers Shares Heritage Preservation Expertise at China Forum

The Wilaya of Algiers, represented by Nashida Belhouane, Deputy Wali for the Administrative District of Draria, participated in the World Mayors Forum held from October 9 to 11 in Luoyang, China. The forum, hosted in Henan Province, focused on the theme of "Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Ancient Historical Capitals and Cultural Exchange Between Cities," providing a platform for international dialogue on urban development and heritage conservation.

During her intervention in the thematic workshops, Deputy Wali Belhouane showcased the Wilaya of Algiers' extensive experience in protecting and valuing cultural and historical heritage. She highlighted the diligent efforts undertaken to safeguard both tangible and intangible cultural assets, with particular emphasis on the ancient Kasbah of Algiers, recognized as a significant historical and civilizational landmark of the capital. Additionally, the strategic vision for Algiers' modernization and development was presented, outlining its objectives, ongoing projects, and the continuous efforts by the Wilaya's services to implement them, notably through the "White Plan" for urban renewal.

This participation underscores Algiers' commitment to fostering international collaboration and strengthening decentralized cooperation, aligning with the twinning agreement between the Wilaya of Algiers and China's Henan Province. The engagement aimed to develop international partnerships in urban management, modernization, and planning, facilitating the exchange of experiences and successful practices to support the ongoing journey toward sustainable development.
