Ministers Plan Broader Algeria-Palestine Cultural Exchange

The Algerian Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Ben Doudah, recently met with the Palestinian Culture Minister, Imad Eddin Hamdan, during their participation in the St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum. The meeting served as a platform to explore avenues for strengthening cultural cooperation between Algeria and Palestine, focusing on expanding exchanges and fostering joint cultural initiatives between the two nations.

During their discussions, the ministers specifically addressed the potential for organizing Palestinian cultural weeks within Algeria, aiming to showcase the diverse aspects of Palestinian creative expression. Furthermore, they considered contributing to the translation, publication, and distribution of literary works by authors from Gaza. This initiative seeks to broaden the readership for Palestinian literary output and enhance the presence of Palestinian voices in the international cultural sphere. The dialogue also encompassed prospects for exhibiting artistic works that reflect the contemporary Palestinian reality, offering art enthusiasts opportunities to acquire original pieces, thereby reinforcing Palestinian cultural identity and supporting its artists.

Minister Ben Doudah reiterated Algeria's steadfast commitment to activating and strengthening the implementation of the existing cultural cooperation agreement between Algeria and Palestine. In a gesture of continued collaboration, she extended an invitation to the Palestinian side for participation in the upcoming International Rock Art Forum, scheduled to take place from October 19 to 24 in Djanet. Additionally, the Algerian Minister formally invited her Palestinian counterpart to visit Algeria, aiming to further consultations and advance the prospects for cultural cooperation between the two countries.
