Arkab Discusses Renewable Energy, Desalination, Carbon Footprint with Norwegian Scatec

Algerian Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab recently held discussions in Algiers with Terje Bileskog, CEO of Norwegian company Scatec. The meeting, attended by the Norwegian Ambassador to Algeria, focused on avenues for cooperation, partnership, and investment between Sonatrach and Scatec. Key areas explored included initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of Algeria's hydrocarbons sector.

The talks specifically addressed strategies to mitigate methane and greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and optimize energy consumption within oil and gas facilities. Discussions also covered developing innovative technological solutions to curb industrial emissions. A significant aspect of the deliberations involved exploring collaboration on seawater desalination projects, leveraging renewable energy sources to bolster the efficiency and environmental sustainability of these crucial facilities.
