Batna Plant Set to Begin Sokon Truck Production in January

The first locally assembled Chinese Sokon truck is scheduled to roll out from the Batna industrial complex in January. All necessary arrangements for the assembly process have been completed at the "SOKON Algérie" complex, located in the Zana El Beida municipality within Batna wilaya. Omar Rekkache, Director General of the Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion (AAPI), confirmed this readiness during a recent inspection visit to the facility, accompanied by the Wali of Batna, Riadh Benahmed.
This significant industrial project represents an investment of 9.8 billion DZD and is projected to generate 1,800 direct jobs and an additional 4,200 indirect employment opportunities. A workforce of 450 individuals has already been recruited and received specialized training, coordinated with the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education, to support the complex's operations. The facility encompasses three industrial units designed for the assembly of buses and trucks, including the Chinese Sokon brand, and also includes plans for developing the Hanou brand.
Currently, the first assembly line dedicated to Sokon trucks is 100 percent complete, while the remaining two lines are 55 percent ready. Once fully operational, the three lines are projected to have an annual assembly capacity of 60,000 units. This initiative aligns with the state's policy to strengthen and support investment projects in the automotive sector, aiming to foster industrial subcontracting within the region and enhance local integration rates through ongoing coordination with local authorities for land provision.
