British, American Universities Present Opportunities in Algiers

Algiers is set to host the fifth edition of the British and American Universities Fair, an event organized by SA Algérie. Scheduled for October 2, 2026, from 9 AM to 6 PM at the Holiday Inn in Chéraga, this fair provides a crucial platform for Algerian students, high school graduates, and university alumni. They will have the opportunity to engage directly with representatives from foreign university institutions, exploring pathways to continue their academic journeys abroad.
The exhibition aims to facilitate comprehensive information gathering, allowing visitors to inquire about various specializations, academic programs, admission requirements, and registration deadlines. Attendees can also seek guidance on preparing their application files, understanding language proficiency prerequisites, and navigating study visa procedures. This direct engagement is vital for students to make informed decisions that align with their academic goals and future professional aspirations.
Beyond individual student opportunities, the event aligns with a broader national interest in leveraging Algerian talent abroad. Discussions highlight the importance of connecting Algerian students and researchers with national knowledge systems, irrespective of their location. A significant institutional step in this direction is the recent establishment of the High Council for the National Scientific Community Abroad. Formed on September 27 with 31 Algerian scientists and experts worldwide, and coordinated by Professor Elias Zerhouni, this council provides a structured framework for fostering scientific cooperation and knowledge transfer.
This strategic approach allows Algeria to benefit from its highly skilled diaspora through various collaborations, including joint research projects, remote training, and expert consultations. The model emphasizes sustained scientific and professional partnerships, linking the expertise gained by Algerians in international institutions to national development initiatives. Such engagement supports the application of specialized knowledge in critical sectors like artificial intelligence, renewable energy, biotechnology, and digitization, thereby contributing to Algeria's progress and human capital development.
