Constantine Police Dismantle Drug Trafficking Network, Seize Thousands of Pills

The State Judicial Police Department in Constantine, specifically its Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI), has successfully dismantled a criminal network specializing in the trafficking and distribution of psychotropic substances. This significant operation led to the arrest of three individuals, including one woman, and resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit materials, affirming the commitment of Algerian security forces to combat organized crime.

The investigation was initiated following precise intelligence reports detailing suspicious activities by an individual engaged in the promotion of psychotropic substances across Constantine's neighborhoods. The suspect was reportedly using his family home as a storage facility for these illicit items. Through extensive field research and detailed investigations, BRI officers successfully identified the primary suspect and meticulously tracked his movements. A carefully executed security plan culminated in his arrest while he was inside a tourist vehicle in Ali Mendjeli New City, where an initial search revealed a considerable sum of money, reported to be over 1.4 billion centimes, derived from illicit sales.

Further legal proceedings, coordinated directly with the competent public prosecutor's office, led to the issuance of a warrant to search the suspect's family home. During this search, security forces discovered an additional 23,027 psychotropic capsules, a large prohibited bladed weapon, and the vehicle used for the illegal transport and distribution of the substances. The investigations did not conclude there; BRI detectives continued their expanded search and inquiries, leading to the identification and swift apprehension of two more members of the criminal network, one of whom was also a woman. In total, the operation resulted in the seizure of 23,134 psychotropic capsules, the significant illicit funds, a confiscated vehicle, and the prohibited weapon.
