German Packaging Contract, Eight EU Export Pacts for Algeria

Algeria has significantly expanded its commercial prospects in Europe, finalizing a contract for the export of plastic packaging to the German market, valued at approximately $3 million. This agreement was secured alongside eight memoranda of understanding (MOUs) between Algerian operators and foreign partners for the commercialization of agricultural products across various European markets. These developments emerged from Algeria's participation in Fruit Attraction 2026, an international fruit and vegetable exhibition held in Madrid.
The contract for plastic packaging exports to Germany represents a concrete step in diversifying Algeria's industrial outreach. The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion announced the signing, which focuses on plastic products for packaging, with an estimated value of around $3 million. While specific companies and delivery schedules were not detailed by the ministry, the agreement signifies a notable entry for Algerian packaging into the German market.
In addition to the German contract, Algerian economic operators attending the Madrid exhibition concluded eight distinct MOUs with international partners. These agreements are geared towards facilitating the export of Algerian agricultural products to several European destinations. The Ministry indicated that these protocols are foundational commitments, paving the way for future commercial operations, though specific products, volumes, or financial values for each agreement were not disclosed.
Algeria's presence at Fruit Attraction 2026, which involved ten national economic operators specializing in agricultural and food products, aimed to foster connections with international partners and showcase Algerian capabilities. This participation not only resulted in the direct contract with Germany and the multiple MOUs but also enabled Algerian companies to explore the latest technological advancements in agricultural value chains, identifying potential cooperation and investment opportunities in global markets. These engagements are anticipated to lead to further agreements and export operations in the coming months.
