Consumer Protection Union Notes Market Stability Efforts

Algeria is implementing extensive measures to develop and regulate its national economy, according to Kriba Khudair, Vice President of the National Union for Consumer Protection. Khudair emphasized that the nation is now an open environment for economic development, focused on balancing market availability with protecting the purchasing power of its citizens. The current objective extends beyond merely supplying goods, addressing the critical need to refine distribution networks and foster ethical trade practices throughout the country.

New public policies have been carefully formulated to serve as a protective framework for both citizens and the market economy. These policies feature clear roadmaps designed to safeguard purchasing power, with food and social security identified as fundamental priorities. The strategies include rigorously combating speculation, monopolies, and arbitrary price increases. Furthermore, the administration is undergoing modernization and digital transformation to eliminate traditional bureaucracy, adopting intelligent mechanisms that ensure immediate information flow and proactive decision-making.

State policy axes, as outlined by the President, aim to strengthen participatory democracy, recognizing that the protection of the national economy is a shared responsibility involving citizens, consumer protection associations, and state institutions. In line with the President's directives, decision-making authority has been effectively decentralized, shifting from central offices directly to the field. This includes the establishment of a Joint Ministerial Committee and the activation of local vigilance committees across the nation, operating under the direct supervision of governors and trade directors. These collective efforts have culminated in a collective charter of honor, promoting constructive dialogue and ensuring adherence to laws to achieve commodity abundance and price stability as a tangible reality for citizens.
