Desalinated Seawater Supply Ordered for Chlef, Mostaganem, Tlemcen

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has issued directives for the supply of desalinated seawater to the wilayas of Chlef, Mostaganem, and Tlemcen. This presidential decision aims to bolster the water supply in these priority regions, ensuring enhanced access to this vital resource for their residents.
In execution of the President's instructions, Minister of Water Resources Lounas Bouzegza chaired a working meeting in Algiers to monitor the connection projects for new seawater desalination plants. The President had specifically emphasized the need to provide desalinated seawater to Chlef, Mostaganem, and Tlemcen as quickly as possible, recognizing them as areas of significant priority for water security.
During the meeting, Minister Bouzegza underscored the importance of accelerating the completion of technical and regulatory procedures. He also stressed the need to strengthen coordination among all stakeholders to facilitate the initiation of projects according to the established priorities. The Minister highlighted the critical impact of these initiatives on improving citizens' access to drinking water, enhancing public services, and reinforcing national water security. The plan includes the potential expansion of desalinated water supply to additional wilayas, contingent on technical studies of their local surface and groundwater capabilities.
