Pertamina, Indonesia's state-owned energy company, recently reinforced its strategic energy partnership with Algeria through a series of high-level meetings in Algiers on October 21, 2026. A delegation led by Oki Muraza, Deputy CEO of PT Pertamina (Persero), engaged with key Algerian stakeholders, including the President and Head of ALNAFT's Management Committee, Abdelkader Cherfaoui, and the Algerian Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mining, Mohamed Arkab. These discussions aimed to strengthen coordination, ensure the continuity of Pertamina's operations, and explore new business development opportunities within the country's energy sector.
The meetings focused on several critical areas, notably the ongoing operations in Block 405A, coordination of work programs, and opportunities for Pertamina's portfolio development in Algeria. Discussions with Minister Arkab specifically addressed the Algerian government's support for sustainable energy cooperation and exploring new collaborations to benefit both nations. The delegation also met with Nour Eddine Daoudi, Chairman and CEO of Sonatrach, Algeria's national oil and gas company and a strategic partner, to advance collaboration in the upstream oil and gas sector and explore new ventures to complement their existing partnership.
Oki Muraza underscored the significance of the relationship, stating that the partnership with Algeria transcends commercial ties, representing a long-term strategic commitment rooted in the strong fraternal bonds between Indonesia and Algeria since the Asia-Africa Conference era. Pertamina expressed appreciation for the support received from Sonatrach, ALNAFT, and the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mining. The company reiterated its commitment to the continued successful operations of Block 405A and to identifying new cooperation opportunities that benefit both countries and support national energy security. This engagement highlights Algeria's role as a vital partner in the global energy landscape.
