CAF Super Cup: USM Alger Meets Sundowns in Pretoria

USM Alger, winners of the CAF Cup, is set to compete against Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2026 CAF Super Cup. The highly anticipated match will take place on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa. Mamelodi Sundowns secured their place as African Champions League victors, while USM Alger claimed their second CAF Cup title following a penalty shootout victory against Zamalek.

The Algerian club has begun its domestic Ligue 1 season positively, currently holding fourth place after seven matches with four wins, two draws, and one defeat. USM Alger also recently secured a 2-0 test match victory against CS Constantine. To ensure optimal readiness, the team arrived in South Africa four days ahead of the fixture, allowing for acclimatization to the southern summer conditions.

USM Alger enters the Super Cup with an encouraging record, being one of only six teams to have won the CAF Super Cup as a CAF Cup victor against a Champions League winner, a feat they accomplished in 2023 against Al Ahly. Key players include goalkeeper Oussama Benbot, recently recalled to the Algerian national team alongside teammate Achref Abada. Ahmed Khaldi is also in contention for the Interclub Player of the Year in Africa award. Experienced midfielder Raouf Benguit and young striker Mohamed-Amine Ramdaoui, who is USMA's leading scorer this season with five goals, have both traveled with the squad.
