Late Cabinet Director Boualem Boualem Honored for National Service

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune led final tributes for Boualem Boualem, the esteemed Director of the Presidency's Cabinet, following his passing on Monday, October 5. Mr. Boualem's remains were repatriated to Algeria on Tuesday, where President Tebboune, senior state officials, and family members gathered at Houari Boumediene International Airport to bid their last farewells. The Presidency of the Republic recognized him as "a man of law in service of the State and the Nation" and an "authentic patriot" and "high-ranking state official" who exemplified commitment and loyalty.

Mr. Boualem's distinguished career included a significant tenure at the Presidency, which he joined in 2020, shortly after President Tebboune's election. He served initially as an advisor for legal and judicial affairs before assuming the role of Director of Cabinet in November 2023 and then confirmed in January 2024. Throughout his various responsibilities, he demonstrated unwavering dedication, exemplary rigor, and precision in his missions. His profound legal and judicial expertise, coupled with his extensive experience and wisdom in management, earned him considerable esteem and the trust of the President.

Before his roles at the Presidency, Mr. Boualem had a notable career as a magistrate, including service as a consultant to the Supreme Court and as an elected member of the Council of the Nation. The Presidency mourned his loss, describing him as a 'competent official,' 'devoted patriot,' and a 'man of high stature and great nobility.' His name is linked to pivotal political developments in the nation, marking him as one of the great state officials who dedicated his life to the service of the homeland.
