Madrid Fair Sees Strong Interest in Algerian Products

The Algerian pavilion at the Fruit Attraction 2026 International Fruit and Vegetable Fair in Madrid has received substantial attention from international professionals and stakeholders in the agricultural sector. Participating for the second consecutive day, the Algerian delegation, comprising ten economic operators, aims to explore new partnership and trade opportunities. This initiative, guided by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, underscores Algeria's commitment to establishing its fresh produce within global distribution networks.

Throughout the event, Algerian exhibitors are conducting targeted business-to-business (B2B) meetings with importers, distributors, and buyers from European, Latin American, and Middle Eastern markets. These direct discussions are crucial for transforming the visibility of Algerian agricultural products into enduring commercial agreements. A key focus involves ensuring compliance with stringent technical and sanitary standards required for access to international retail shelves, particularly those of the European Union.

The strategic importance of Algeria's presence was further highlighted by the visit of the Algerian Ambassador to Spain, who engaged with exhibitors to assess initial commercial outcomes. This institutional backing, part of a broader program to diversify non-hydrocarbon exports, seeks to secure consistent markets for national agricultural output. Furthermore, Algerian representatives are leveraging the fair's specialized platforms, such as the Innovation Hub and Innova & Tech, to observe and integrate the latest advancements in smart farming, irrigation, and packaging, ultimately enhancing the competitiveness and productivity of Algerian exports.
