Mobilis Secures 27 Billion DA Contract for 4G Infrastructure

The Algerian state has awarded a contract exceeding 27 billion dinars for the development of electronic communications infrastructure, a significant step in the nation's efforts to enhance connectivity. The extensive project, outlined in a ministerial decree from the Post and Telecommunications sector, involves equipping 201 sites with modern 4G relay antennas. This initiative is designed to reinforce the quality of national network coverage, specifically improving mobile internet access and facilitating emergency calls across the country.

The contract has been awarded to the operator Mobilis (ATM Mobilis SPA), with the entire program financed by the state through the universal service support fund. The project's objective is to strengthen the mobile network in less populated regions and along key sections of the road network, ensuring access to electronic communication services, including mobile telephony and internet. Authorities have designated this project as strategic, emphasizing its role in achieving optimal territory coverage and integrating the latest technologies.

Implementation of the project has already commenced, with an approved set of specifications guiding the work, which is expected to span 18 to 24 months, targeting full finalization by autumn 2028. Strict measures are in place, including penalties for delays or service interruptions, underscoring the government's commitment to ensuring quality, availability, and continuity of service. This infrastructure development is also crucial for the impending launch of the national "Cell Broadcast" system, an early warning tool designed to transmit urgent notifications to citizens during major disasters and risks.
